29 Days of Giving: Day 7

June 7

Although I don’t want my giving to become robotic or planned weeks in advance, there is a certain amount of planning that enables me to give in ways that I can’t if I just left it all to chance.  Today I am off to Outdoor School with some colleagues and over 100 eleven-year-old kids so the day might be a little hectic!  Last night I was considering what I would give on such a busy day and got a little worried that if I didn’t plan ahead I would miss my opportunity for the day.  I am sure that I would have come up with something, but I really didn’t want to chance it—not to mention the fact that I am not sure I would even be able to tell you about it because I am not entirely sure that my internet connection will be reliable.

As a result of this low-grade panic, I decided to be preemptive with today’s giving and I baked a batch of Rhubarb Brown Sugar Muffins to leave in the staff room in the morning.  Who doesn’t love a tender muffin with just enough sweetness to offset the tang of rhubarb?  Thinking ahead gave me the opportunity to have my gift all ready to go first thing in the morning so that I can spend the rest of my day wrangling kids into place at camp!

As I have mentioned, I love to cook for other people, so it seemed like the right way to put my talents to good use.  I hope to be able to post my giving adventures for the next few days but if I don’t I will update them when I get home —wish me luck!
